Partner

Chan Kim Weng is a Partner at Messrs Ching, Tan & Associates. He read law at the University of Essex, graduating with an LLB (Hons) in 2019. He subsequently completed the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP University, Leeds, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2021 as a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.

Upon returning to Malaysia, Kim Weng commenced his pupillage at Messrs Ching, Tan & Associates. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in October 2022. Demonstrating a strong aptitude for legal practice and client management, he has remained with the firm, swiftly ascending from Legal Assistant to his current position as Partner.

Kim Weng possesses extensive experience in both litigation and conveyancing, regularly appearing before all tiers of the Malaysian courts, including the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal Court. His practice encompasses a diverse portfolio of contentious and non-contentious matters, affording him a comprehensive perspective on advisory, procedural, and transactional work.

  • Civil & Commercial Litigation: Managing contractual and civil disputes, interlocutory applications, and full trial conduct.
  • Real Estate & Property Finance: Handling matters across the real estate spectrum, including developer projects and sub-sale transactions, as well as overseeing property financing.
  • Family Law: Navigating sensitive family matters, including contested and non-contentious (joint) divorce petitions, with discretion and strategic focus.
  • Insolvency: Managing both individual and corporate insolvency matters, encompassing bankruptcy petitions, discharge applications, and corporate winding-up proceedings.
  • Estate Matters: Handling applications for grant of probate and letters of administration as well as consequential applications such as transmission of properties, distribution orders, and orders for sale.
